Detailed guide

How to use this tool

  1. Start the moving marker and take a suitable long-exposure photograph.
  2. Inspect the frame sequence for missing positions.

Output

Animation FPS; frame intervals, milliseconds

Input

Visible tab and animated workload

Browser requirement

requestAnimationFrame timestamps

How it works and what the result means

Frame cadence is estimated from requestAnimationFrame timestamps. Browser FPS may be capped by refresh rate, power settings or background throttling. It is not a native-game FPS prediction.

Reading the result

A camera image may show gaps that warrant investigation. Browser timestamp variation alone cannot prove that the physical panel skipped a frame.

What to check next

Use stable camera support and consistent exposure. Too short or too long an exposure can make the sequence hard to interpret.

A frame sequence may reveal gaps in a camera photo, but software timing alone cannot prove a monitor is displaying or skipping physical frames.

Frequently asked questions

Can the software automatically certify zero skipped frames?

No. It cannot observe emitted frames from the physical panel. A suitable camera method or external instrument is required.

How do I start the Frame Skipping Test?

Start the test and keep the tab visible. For FPS, adjust workload. For frame skipping, photograph the moving frame sequence with a long exposure.

Does this tool require a download or an account?

No. Open the interactive tool above in a modern browser. The instructions and explanations are available even with JavaScript disabled; running a test needs JavaScript.

Why can two attempts give different results?

Power settings, background tasks, browser scheduling, operating-system input processing and device settings affect measurements. Compare repeated attempts with identical settings rather than the single highest score.
