Detailed guide

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a short burst or a sustained round.
  2. A first click starts the timer; subsequent accepted left-button presses increase the counter.
  3. Custom durations let you repeat the same practice session.

How it works and what the result means

Final CPS is the accepted left-button press count divided by the selected duration. Inputs after the deadline are excluded. The live rate changes during the round; the completed result uses the full selected interval. Recent history and personal bests are stored in this browser.

Reading the result

Compare CPS only at the same duration and technique. Forty-two accepted clicks in five seconds is 8.4 CPS. A short personal best does not predict endurance over a full minute.

Compare a short burst with sustained clicking

A one-second round captures a burst, while ten seconds includes fatigue and consistency. For example, 42 accepted clicks in five seconds equals 8.4 CPS. Keep separate personal bests for each duration. Jitter, butterfly and drag clicking are input techniques; the counter still counts only browser-delivered presses. A higher number does not establish that a technique is allowed in a particular game.

What to check next

If a press is missed, keep the pointer inside the surface and check another application. Browser delivery, accidental dragging and touch gestures can affect counts.

Keep the same duration, device and technique when comparing. A burst and an endurance round answer different questions. Stop and rest if fast clicking becomes uncomfortable.

Frequently asked questions

Does holding the mouse button increase CPS?

No. The counter needs separate presses. Holding a button, moving the pointer or using the right button does not add left clicks. Results describe events received by this page.

How do I start the CPS Test?

Choose the duration and click inside the active surface with the primary mouse button. The first accepted click starts the timer. Continue with separate presses until the round completes, then reset before another attempt.

Which test duration should I use?

Use a one-second round for a brief burst and a longer round for sustained rhythm. Keep separate personal bests for each duration. A 1-second result and a 60-second result answer different questions and should not share a single ranking.

Are jitter, butterfly and drag clicks counted differently?

The technique selector labels your session; it does not award extra points. The counter accepts actual delivered presses. Device debounce, technique and application rules can change what is appropriate in a game.

Where is my recent test history stored?

Recent sessions are saved in this browser storage and can be exported as JSON or cleared. Another browser or a cleared storage profile will not automatically share that history.
