Nobody can confirm it yet. GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026, and Rockstar has not announced a PC version or PC specs.1
Based on the consoles it targets, a PC with a 6 core CPU from 2019 or newer, 16 GB of RAM, an SSD and a GTX 1660 Super class graphics card should handle low settings. For 1080p at high settings, aim for an RTX 4060 Ti or RX 7700 XT class card with 32 GB of RAM. These are our estimates, not official numbers.
Where GTA 6 on PC stands right now
Rockstar first showed GTA 6 in December 2023 with a 2025 target. It then moved the game twice. Here is the full path so far:
- December 2023First trailer lands with a 2025 release window.
- May 2025Rockstar pushes the date to May 26, 2026.
- November 2025A second delay sets November 19, 2026.
- November 19, 2026Launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.1
- PC: not announcedNo date, no specs, no store page.
Rockstar's track record gives a fair idea of the wait. GTA V hit PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013 and reached PC in April 2015, a gap of 19 months. Red Dead Redemption 2 came out on consoles in October 2018 and arrived on PC in November 2019, roughly a year later.6 If the studio follows either pattern, PC players should expect late 2027 at the earliest.
That long gap works in your favor. You have time to check your hardware, plan upgrades and wait for real requirements before you spend money.
Why the consoles tell us the most
Rockstar builds GTA 6 to run on current consoles. A PC port almost always uses those machines as its baseline, so their hardware is the best clue we have.
| Console | CPU | GPU power | Memory |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series S | 8 core AMD Zen 2, 3.6 GHz | 4 TFLOPS | 10 GB GDDR6 |
| PlayStation 5 | 8 core AMD Zen 2, up to 3.5 GHz | 10.28 TFLOPS | 16 GB GDDR6 |
| Xbox Series X | 8 core AMD Zen 2, 3.8 GHz | 12 TFLOPS | 16 GB GDDR6 |
| PlayStation 5 Pro | 8 core AMD Zen 2, up to 3.85 GHz | 16.7 TFLOPS | 16 GB GDDR6 plus 2 GB DDR5 |

Two things stand out. First, every console uses an 8 core processor, so CPUs with only four cores will struggle in a dense open world. Second, the Xbox Series S sets the floor. Rockstar has to make the game run on that machine, which means a PC GPU in the same class can likely run it at low settings.
The PS5 graphics chip lands roughly in the class of a desktop RTX 2070 Super or RX 6700. Matching PS5 quality on PC usually takes a bit more than that, because consoles get deeper tuning than any PC port.
What Rockstar asked for last time
Rockstar's two most recent PC releases show how the studio sets requirements. It keeps the minimum low so many players can join, then asks for far more at the recommended level.
| Game | Tier | CPU | GPU | RAM | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | Minimum | Core i5-2500K / FX-6300 | GTX 770 2 GB / R9 280 | 8 GB | 150 GB |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | Recommended | Core i7-4770K / Ryzen 5 1500X | GTX 1060 6 GB / RX 480 | 12 GB | 150 GB |
| GTA V Enhanced | Minimum | Core i7-4770 / FX-9590 | GTX 1630 / RX 6400 | 8 GB | 105 GB SSD |
| GTA V Enhanced | Recommended | Core i5-9600K / Ryzen 5 3600 | RTX 3060 / RX 6600 XT | 16 GB | 105 GB SSD |

The biggest signal sits in the last column. GTA V Enhanced, a game from 2013, now refuses to run from a hard drive. Rockstar made an SSD a hard minimum. A brand new game built around fast console storage will almost surely do the same.
Our estimated GTA 6 PC requirements
We combined the console baseline with Rockstar's past pattern to build three tiers. Treat them as a planning guide until Rockstar publishes real numbers.

Check your own PC in two minutes
Before you compare anything, find out exactly what sits inside your machine. Windows has everything you need built in.
- Find your CPU and RAM. Press Win + R, type dxdiag and hit Enter. The System tab lists your processor and installed memory.7
- Find your graphics card and its memory. In the same tool, open the Display tab. Look at the chip name and "Display Memory" for VRAM.
- Check your drive type. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, go to Performance, and click each Disk. It will say SSD or HDD.
- Test real performance. Specs on paper miss heat, dust and old drivers. Run our free browser benchmark to see how your CPU, GPU and RAM actually perform today.
Now plug those parts into the checker below. It compares your setup to the tiers above and points to the part that holds you back.

If you game on a laptop
Laptop graphics chips share names with desktop cards but run slower because they get less power and less cooling. A laptop RTX 4060 often performs closer to a desktop RTX 3060 or below, depending on how much power the maker allows.
- Check the power limit. Look up your model's GPU wattage on the maker's spec sheet. Higher wattage means more speed from the same chip.
- Watch the video memory. Many budget laptops ship with 6 GB of VRAM. For a new open world game, 8 GB gives you more breathing room.
- Play plugged in. On battery, most gaming laptops cut GPU power hard.
- Keep it cool. Clean the vents and raise the back edge. Heat makes laptops slow down on their own, and our benchmark will show you if yours does.
What to upgrade first if you fall short
Do not rush out and buy a new graphics card today. Prices shift, new cards launch every year, and the real requirements may surprise everyone. Fix the cheap problems now and save the big purchase for later.
- Get an SSD. This is the cheapest and most certain upgrade. If your games still live on a hard drive, a 1 TB NVMe SSD solves it. Check that your motherboard has an M.2 slot first.
- Move to 32 GB of RAM. Buy a matched pair of sticks so your memory runs in dual channel mode. Two sticks beat one large stick for gaming.
- Replace a 4 core CPU. If your processor has only four cores, it will likely bottleneck the game no matter which GPU you pair it with.
- Upgrade the GPU last. Wait until Rockstar posts specs and reviewers test the PC version. You will buy the right card at a better price.
Not sure which part is the weak link? Our CPU, GPU and RAM benchmark scores each part separately, which makes the bottleneck easy to spot.
Watch out for fake GTA 6 PC downloads
Scammers know millions of people search for a PC version. They push fake installers, fake "requirement checker" programs and fake beta keys. When the real PC version comes, you will buy it from Rockstar's own site or a major store like Steam or the Epic Games Store. Follow Rockstar's official GTA VI page for the real news.1
You never need to download anything to check your hardware either. Our test runs right in the browser tab.

How we built these estimates
We did not guess from thin air, and we did not copy the spec lists floating around social media. Every tier above comes from three inputs:
- Console hardware. We matched the Xbox Series S and PS5 graphics power to desktop cards in the same class to set the low and mid tiers.
- Rockstar's last two PC releases. The jump from RDR2 to GTA V Enhanced shows the studio now demands SSDs and 16 GB of RAM even for older games.
- What players own. We checked the Steam Hardware Survey to keep the tiers grounded in real systems people use.8
When Rockstar publishes official PC requirements, we will replace our estimates with the real numbers and update the checker on the same day.
Common questions
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Rockstar has not announced a PC version or date. The studio released GTA V on PC 19 months after consoles and Red Dead Redemption 2 about a year after, so late 2027 or later is a fair guess.
Will GTA 6 run on 8 GB of RAM?
Probably not well. Windows takes a big share of an 8 GB system before any game starts. Plan for 16 GB as the floor and 32 GB for smooth play.
Can a GTX 1650 run GTA 6?
It will likely fall short. The GTX 1650 has 4 GB of video memory and sits below the Xbox Series S graphics chip, the weakest system the game must support. A GTX 1660 Super or RTX 2060 class card is a safer floor.
Will GTA 6 need an SSD on PC?
Almost certainly. Rockstar already requires an SSD for GTA V Enhanced on PC, so expect the same or stricter rules here.
How much storage will GTA 6 take on PC?
Rockstar has not said. Red Dead Redemption 2 asks for 150 GB, so keep at least that much free on an SSD.
Can I play GTA 6 on PC through cloud gaming at launch?
Rockstar has not announced any official way to play on a PC at launch, streaming included. Treat any offer of a GTA 6 PC download today as a scam.
